Looper Crawl

Pumpkin pie
We had pumpkin pies. We had Pina Coladas. We had a blast!

One of the best things about the Looper Rendezvous is the Looper Crawl. This is where people open up their boats to other loopers.

We have been to three rendezvous and this is the first time we’ve opened our boat up to the Crawl. Oh my gosh, I had the best time.

We left the cleaning until the  last minute — nothing new there — so we were good and exhausted by the time people started dropping by. The interactions energized us, though. 🙂

Pie and Piña Coladas

We served pie and Piña Coladas. I had promised the coladas last year but didn’t have a chance to deliver because we had to pull out of the rendezvous. And I wasn’t sure I was going to do it this year because we had pie.

But you know what? I love making cocktails. Having a blender with a Colada button makes things so easy. You just push the button and coladas appear.

Just kidding. You actually do have to add the ingredients.

I used a different recipe than the one I posted last year. The recipe this time:

    • 1.5 cups ice
    • 1.5 cups frozen pineapple (thanks to Jille for supplying the pineapple)
    • 4 shots pineapple juice
    • 5 shots rum
    • 2 shots Cream of Coconut
    • 1 shot lime juice

Blend using the Colada button.

3.14 Pies

Much as I would like to say that we made the pie specifically for the Crawl, it was actually left over from Canadian Thanksgiving. We volunteered to bring the pie for the potluck. Our first stop  Kroger. They only had frozen pie that took over an hour to bake. We were running behind schedule so there was no way we could have this pie ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Still, we bought it because if we didn’t find an alternative we would have put it in the oven the second we got back to the boat. We would have left during dinner to go and get it. It was a risky plan. Having never made pie in the oven before, we had no way of knowing if it would take 65 minutes or 75 minutes and we all know what a difference 10 minutes can make when making pie.

We stopped at another store (not Walmart) next and were very thankful that they had pie that didn’t require baking. We picked up two pies because we wanted everyone that wanted some to have their pumpkin pie dreams come true.

Apparently very few people dreamt of pie that night. We brought back a pie and a slice.

So, we had three complete pies for the crawl. The first was a little well done (but still edible), the middle one was okay, but the last one was just right.

Thanks to everyone who dropped by and made our first Crawl so  much fun.
