Sorry, We’re Closed Mondays

Riverboat
We looked up five different restaurants near the City Dock. They were all closed!

After spending Sunday night at Henry Harbor Marina, we headed to Peoria.

It was a fairly short travel day — four hours. We thought we might go out for dinner when we arrived here Monday evening.

No one told us Peoria was closed Mondays.

There is a sports bar that’s open until 9pm. Monday is a slow sports night after all. It’s not like there’s Monday Night Football or anything.

Oh wait — yes there is!!!!

Retirement Potential

If we ever wanted to retire in Peoria, we could make a killing with a restaurant that was only open one day a week. We would call it Mondays.

Okay, now that I’ve beaten that horse to death, I shall continue,

City Dock in Peoria
City Dock

Our first stop in Peoria was  City Dock. We thought we might see some sights.

That didn’t pan out.

We did meet two lovely gentlemen on the wall and had a nice chat. We didn’t get their names. If you’re reading this, “Hi!”‘

One of the things we talked about was how this life is a dream for a lot of people. Circumstances, though, often prevent them from going forward.

Greg and I were in a similar situation. When we first thought about doing the Loop, we didn’t know how we would make it work. I was a little reluctant. I come from a sailing background and motor boats are noisy and sometimes smelly. My biggest concern was the limited space.

Then I stepped on board Deep Thoughts. The boat is surprisingly spacious. There are areas where we can hang out separately if we want to. And the life is everything I could wish for.

Just looking at the water relaxes me. I feel so fortunate that I’m able to have this experience.

Once we decided to do this, we just did it. It wasn’t always easy and it may not work out in the end, but we will never regret taking this step.

We’re Greg and Charlene.

The Journey So Far starts when we left the cottage for our boating adventure.

We’re documenting our journey here so that we can look back when we are old(er) and remember the adventure we had.
